China has responded with its own set of high tariffs up to 125% on US goods and declared its intent to "fight to the end." While Trump argues that the tariffs will boost domestic manufacturing and investment, critics warn that rebuilding US industries will take decades and may strain the economy in the short term.
Trump recently paused tariffs for all countries except China for 90 days after backlash from political and financial circles. Despite this, the conflict between the US and China continues to shake global markets.
