Causes

Canine parvovirus type 2 (CPV-2) causes parvovirus, a disorder that affects the intestinal lining of dogs and disrupts food and fluid absorption. Puppies younger than 21 days old are susceptible to this virus in their heart muscle, lymphoid tissue, and bone marrow. This ailment disrupts the body's nutrient cycle and causes severe harm to infected pets.

Survival Rate and Treatment:

Advancements in Canine Parvovirus Treatment

Elanco Animal Health Incorporated recently got conditional approval from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) for the first Canine Parvovirus Monoclonal Antibody therapy. It is the first and only approved treatment solution proven to treat canine parvovirus, which is a huge breakthrough.

Dogs with parvovirus aged eight weeks or older can receive the treatment. With a single dosage, the Canine Parvovirus Monoclonal Antibody therapy directly targets the virus and has demonstrated great efficacy and safety in healthy dogs.
