1. Siri can read things to you
Tap the Safari app, then say, "I want to listen to this page" or "Tell Siri to read this." You can also select Listen to Page by tapping the Page Settings icon to the left of the address bar. In addition to pausing, you can change the speaking tempo.
2. Protect your private tabs from others
If you haven't used Safari for fifteen minutes, your iPhone may ask for identification before showing your private tabs. That is useful if you frequently allow others to use your phone and would prefer to keep some surfing habits private. Go to Settings, select Safari, scroll down, and turn on the Require Face ID to Unlock Private Browsing toggle to activate the feature.
3. Remove the background from photos quickly
Select Quick Actions > Remove Background after tapping and holding any image stored in the Files app. iOS makes a background-free copy of the original shot, which is ideal for additional editing in a different app. A similar technique can be applied to many photos as well.
4. With the camera, you can copy or translate text
After launching the camera app, point your phone's lens at a text block. An icon with three lines inside an outlined square is at the bottom-right corner. You can copy, select all, look up, translate, or share the captured text when you tap the icon.
5. Protect your apps by locking them

If your child uses your phone frequently and you don't want them to play games or send unintentional emails, you may use Face ID to protect particular apps. To activate the app, long-press on it and choose Require Face ID.
6. Set a time limit for specific apps when using the screen
Are you wasting too much time aimlessly browsing Instagram or Snapchat? A setting that limits your access to those apps is something you can activate. After selecting Screen Time in Settings, select Add Limits > Add Limit.
By touching the category and then choosing applications inside it, you may establish limits on certain apps or choose an entire category, like Social. After selecting how much time you'll let yourself spend in those apps, tap Next in the upper-right corner. By selecting Customize Days, you can allow more weekend time if you'd like.
7. Send a text later by scheduling it
Plan your messages to be sent at more regular times if you don't want folks to know you're up all night. Tap the plus symbol on the left side of the message box after typing your content into an open chat window. Choose a day and time to deliver your scheduled message after selecting Send Later.
8. Identify plants or animals
By touching the Info button at the bottom of the screen, you may determine the exact nature of any shot you take of a plant, flower, tree, or animal. If your iPhone recognizes the subject, a star symbol will appear at the image's bottom. In addition to identifying the plant or animal, the metadata details will allow you to search for additional information.
9. Use two fingers to select all
To mark all items as read or to mass remove items in applications like Messages, Mail, Notes, and Reminders, swipe down to select all. Some third-party apps, like Telegram, support this action, but others, like Gmail, do not.
10. Become a faster photographer with Camera shortcuts
The Camera app opens by default when you swipe left on your iPhone's lock screen, though iOS 18 allows you to switch that shortcut to something else. Using the physical volume button on the side of the phone rather than hitting the shutter button makes taking pictures considerably simpler.
Holding down the shutter button records video without swiping it into video mode while swiping it to the left takes a series of consecutive pictures, a feature known as burst mode. Cutting a second off the time it takes to take a picture or record a video is helpful when trying to capture something ephemeral, like pets or children who move quickly.
