Nike¡¯s recent launch of its plus-size collection comes as a much-needed addition for all the curvy women out there who¡¯ve experienced the nightmare of shopping of shopping for clothes¡ªespecially for plus-size woman athletes.
Sure you have outlets like the reliable ASOS Curve, the number one destination for heavier women to shop, but other options like Zara are out of the picture if you¡¯re above a size 18. In fact, Zara has been publically slammed recently for using a couple of thin models to promote its denim line for fully figured women.

Workout clothes is a nightmare to find as well due to the non-existence of any brand willing to make clothes beyond a size 16. To fill up this void, Nike, to their credit, has come out with a range for women who wear clothes up to 1X to 3X.
Nike has hired some a couple of fierce influencers (fashion bloggers) Grace Victory and Danielle Vanier to lead their campaign.
Grace has put an entire album on her website highlighting Nike's new lifestyle range.
Danielle, on the other hand, was seen wearing several tops and lowers from Nike; including this one Nike Power Legendary Mid Rise Tights (size 3X) and Nike Breathe Women¡¯s Training Top (size 3X).
In a statement to Cosmopolitan Nike said: ¡°Nike women are stronger, bolder, and more outspoken than before. In today's world, sport is no longer something that she does, it's who she is. The days where we have to add 'female' before 'athlete' are over. She is an athlete, period. And having helped fuel this cultural shift, we celebrate these athletes' diversity, from ethnicity to body shape."

Plus size isn¡¯t just about making bigger sized clothes either. Since everyone¡¯s weight distribution is different, making plus size clothing takes much more that just making the clothes larger in the same proportion, states Helen Boucher vice president of women's training apparel.
Only time will tell whether brands such a Zara follow suit or not, but we can hopefully get to see more athletic brands follow in Nike¡¯s footsteps. In the meantime, you may want to check out Nike.com for a full range of plus size clothing and sizes for yourself.
