#FitIt Challenge: I'm Getting Closer To Running My First 5K & I'm Finally Getting Used To My Training Routine
You need three things to win, or at least complete a race - discipline, hard work and commitment. You cannot sustain the distance without these three, and regular running teaches you that.

<There are no lazy weekends
Unlike the previous two weekends, I managed to break past my own limits last weekend. I feel better now as the competition nears and I grow stronger. This weekend was filled with a lot of activities which reflects in the stats shown on my Flex 2.
Fitbit
Earlier, it used to be tough for me to cross the 5000-step mark on a weekend. But on Sunday, I managed over 18000 steps.
It¡¯s been a struggle, but I am getting there
An idea is always perfect in the head. When it comes to implementing it, however, it often fails. When I took up the challenge initially, I assumed running a 5-kilometre marathon was not a big deal. Reality hit me soon enough, and I had to fight hard with myself.
Last weekend I managed to prove my point. Attaining these stats reminds me of an iconic song from the movie Jo Jeeta Wahi Sikandar - ¡°Wo sikandar hi kehlata hai, hari baazi ko jeetna jise aata hai¡±
The run is becoming doable again
Last weekend, I surpassed most of the parameters I had set out to achieve; from sleeping to all the set goals on the app. If Saturday was 12,226 steps, Sunday turned out to be over 18,032 steps which is close to 12.42 kilometres.

Now I can see an improvement in myself and the Fitbit app helps me monitor it easily. I managed 74 active minutes on Saturday and 103 active minutes on Sunday. The run is beginning to look doable again.
I¡¯ve hit a couple of targets
In my first blog, I had set two targets for myself, and I can proudly say that I have achieved both of them. My first target was not to laze around on the weekend. Last weekend I managed over 30000 steps! But this is not all.

Lodhi is the place I like to go for a walk because one gets to walk in a scenic landscape and because it has a jogging track. My second target was to run over 3 kilometres at one go. One complete round of Lodhi Gardens equals to 2 kilometres. I did two and half.
What¡¯s next?
I¡¯m left with 8 days. I will be running the marathon on the 22nd and now I have more competition than ever. Not only do I have to beat Akshay and Shewali, but many others who are taking part in the marathon. I need to finish the run at a respectable position. It is not going to be easy, so I need to be regular so that I can run at a good pace and for over 5 kilometres without a pausing in between.
