Stomach ulcers or gastric ulcers are sores that develop in the lining of the stomach or the upper part of the intestine. They occur due to several reasons including bacterium infections, excessive use of non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, burns or injury, or even drinking excessive alcohol.
Stomach ulcers exhibit many symptoms such as a burning sensation between the chest and the belly button, poor appetite, bloating, heartburn, nausea, indigestion, weight loss etc. Without proper care, this condition may worsen further. To treat stomach ulcers, use these home remedies.
Bananas: The antibacterial properties in banana stop the growth of the ulcer causing bacteria. They also reduce the acidity of the gastric juices thus reducing inflammation and strengthening the stomach lining. Make sure you eat at least three bananas a day to heal a stomach ulcer. You can even add them to a healthy banana smoothie.
Coconut: Coconut also exhibits antibacterial properties. Coconut milk and coconut water are especially known to be beneficial to treat ulcers. Drink fresh coconut milk and tender coconut water daily for about a week to calm the ulcer.
Fenugreek: Fenugreek or methi has healing properties that can be used to treat stomach ulcers. Fenugreek contains a mucilaginous compound that protects the stomachs lining by coating it like mucus thus healing it in the process. Boil a spoon of fenugreek seeds in two cups of water. Then strain the seeds, add a little honey and drink this water. Follow this remedy twice a day for about a week for significant results.
Garlic: The antibacterial and antimicrobial properties exhibited by garlic help keep the bacterium levels in check. Crush garlic cloves and take it with a glass of warm water daily to ease the ulcer.
