Indoor Workout Ideas

Indoor workout ideas are a great way to beat the weather blues when they start affecting your workout routine. Take this monsoon for instance 每 it＊s pouring cats and dogs and all you can think of is curling up under the blanket. Who would want to step out for a walk or head to the gym in this weather- no one! But you are worried that all the lazing about and yummy snacks (read fried food and more fried food) will make you pile on weight in no time. Fitness trainer Somesh Kamra puts together some indoor workout ideas so that you are fit come rain, or sunshine.

Indoor Workout Idea #1: Leg Rotations and Bridge

Sit upright on your couch or chair and extend your right leg. Rotate them clockwise 10- 12 times and then anti clockwise. Now do the left. Do two or three sets of each.
Combine this with the bridge pose for your abs. Lie down on your back with your knees bent, pointing upwards. Raise your hips slowly, hold the pose for ten seconds and return to the original pose. Do up to 8 repetitions.
The leg rotations will give you toned legs and the bridge pose will tone your abs.
Indoor Workout Idea #2: Aerobics
Here＊s your chance to use the workout CDs you＊ve collected over time! Simply put them on for an intense session of aerobics. The only prop you need is a stepper. Or just youtube videos of some peppy retro numbers and emulate the moves to shed that flab. Make your workout a fun dance session by asking your friends to join.
Indoor Workout Idea #3: Jump Squats, Push-ups and Pull-ups
Get more out of your squats. Jump between the repetitions and burn fat faster. Do two sets of 15 repetitions each.
Tip: Link your hands together and hold them above your head to ensure correct posture and make sure your knees don＊t jut out while you do squats, for better results.
Combine these with two sets of push ups and pull ups for a firmer upper body. If you do not have access to a bar, support yourself against the wall, stretch yourself till you reach the farthest point. Relax; do up to 12 repetitions.
Indoor Workout Idea #4: Plyometric Workouts
Polymetric exercises aim mainly at the lower body. It helps in providing strength for any sport that involves sprinting and jumping eg. football and basketball. Get a stepper and try jumps to box, lateral box push offs and hurdle jumping.
Jump to box is similar to step-ups, except, here you jump on and off it using both your feet. Lateral box push offs- stand sideways to the stepper; put your left foot on it, jump high and land on the other side of the box.
Hurdle jumping- like the name suggests, jump to and fro over the box. Do it sideways too.
