Instagram fitness celebrity, Nude Yoga Girl, has taken it upon herself to spread the message of body positivity by performing yoga naked. She celebrates her devotion to yoga by performing it naked and urges people to do the same by embracing their bodies, regardless of their own perceptions or that of societies.
She¡¯s been at it since 2015 and has been mesmerizing people with her vivid, artistic and butt naked yoga-portraits, proving to be an inspiration for hundreds of thousands.
The body-positive Instagrammer also encourages her followers, 675,000 so far, to share their clicks while they do nude yoga with the hashtag #NYGyoga. She shares those on her page and encourages women of all sizes and shapes to do so.
This super yogi has been spreading major life lessons through her posts. She¡¯s been captioning her photographs with beautiful messages about life that we could all learn a thing or two from.
The yogi is all too bold about her artsy movement on social media and when asked, ¡°Why do I like to see other people doing nude yoga?¡± she answered, ¡°It¡¯s much more than just the actual photo. I think about it as an experience to really connect with your body, be there with it in a natural way. It¡¯s the positive experience, photo and caption together. To know that people have really taken time to connect with themselves and celebrate their unique bodies. The empowering feeling they get from it. That makes me happy. By receiving and sharing the photos I want to inspire more people to do so.¡±
¡°I want to say, it doesn't matter how you look. In this world, you get the idea that you are not enough, never enough. It might not be the body for you, but have you felt not being enough in something in your life... There are no persons that have a "right" body type or who are more suitable to speak about body positivity, we struggle with the same things, with ourselves. The most important thing is that we are enough for ourselves and that's the most difficult thing for all of us.¡±
On their Community Guidelines page, Instagram clearly states, ¡°We know that there are times when people might want to share nude images that are artistic or creative in nature, but for a variety of reasons, we don¡¯t allow nudity on Instagram.¡± Fair point, since not everyone delights in such images.
But Nude Yoga Girl, a yoga enthusiast (obviously), seems to have found a way around the strict guidelines of the photo-sharing platform. The 25-year-old model and photographer, who encourages positive body image, has taken the app by storm with stunning black and white pictures of herself in yoga postures. She has a huge fan following on the photo-sharing site.
While swimsuit models and uninhibited superstars often play up the camera and post pictures that send fans into a tizzy, those are consistently deleted by the photo-sharing site. Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, Kendall Jenner have all had photos of themselves taken down by the app, which has strict policies when it comes to bare buttocks and female nipples. But Nude Yoga Girl¡¯s pictures are precisely what the appellation suggests¡ªa girl, nude¡ªdoing advanced yoga postures. They are perfectly-angled, nipples digitally edited and parts of her body strategically shadowed.
The model-photographer has a studio setting at home and her boyfriend is the man behind the shutter. She believes that only through yoga one is able to love their body fully. Comments on her pictures range from inspiring to sexual in tone. While some think she¡¯s beautiful, some are of the opinion that by objectifying her body through photographs which are implausibly idealised, she is propagating the same body image issues she claims she is trying to counteract.
Sure, the lady in question is toned, in possession of washboard abs, taut, unending legs and a body many of us will give our right arms for. But the most pertinent point here is ¡ª loving your body. You might not be as fit as her, but she urges you to embrace your body, uninhibited. As for the nudity, it¡¯s just freeing, she has admitted. In a world where nudity is so easily and often perceived as sexual, her body of work is certainly an inspiration.
