This story is not a compilation of fatal car crashes. It is about weird stuff that has happened with cars - with drivers doing the unthinkable and the self-driving vehicles doing their own thing. At other times, the cars developed a mind of their own. Some of these are funny, others downright ridiculous. Yet, there are some that are quite amazing.

When two men from Denver set out on a journey to clock a record distance of nearly 1,000 km on a single charge in the Tesla Model 3, they were in for a rude shock. After their car died, they plugged it to a charger. But even after 24 hours of non-stop charging, the Tesla still didn¡¯t come alive.

A driver in the US recently drove his car straight into wet cement and, obviously, got stuck. The unidentified Cleveland resident had to seek help from construction workers who succeeded in freeing his car.

A self-driving car in Arizona tragically killed a woman earlier this year. Investigations, however, found out that the car hadn't missed the woman on the road. It had actually spotted her six seconds before the crash took place. It just didn't swerve as it failed to read her as a ¡®human¡¯.

5. Self-driving car that will navigate rural areas without road signs

Developed by MIT researchers at the college¡¯s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) the self-driving car can navigate rural roads they¡¯ve never seen before without road signs or 3D maps. The car uses a system called MapLite that combines basic GPS data and advanced sensors watching the road.

6. Japanese car that will turn into a robot

A Japanese company has developed a new humanoid robot called J-deite RIDE. It's a vehicle that can transform into a Transformers-style humanoid robot in 60 seconds. Optimus Prime would be so proud.

7. Woman who left her unattended car roll into a pool

A woman driving her car had stepped out of it to run back into her house to get some money. She assumed that she had put her car in park but she hadn't. As a result, the car rolled into a swimming pool and got completely submerged in it.

Driving is an exhilarating experience and perhaps that¡¯s why people learn the art in the first place. However, a nervous student did the unthinkable - she crashed her car straight into the exam centre. The Minnesota girl ¡°inadvertently put the vehicle in drive instead of reverse¡±.

9. High-speed car that crashed into the dentist¡¯s office

A high-speed car in Southern California was not being driven parallel to the divider. Because the driver came from a side street and crashed straight into the median, the impact was so high that it sent the car catapulting into the air - straight into a dentist's office on the second floor of a building.

10. Driver who got his Uber stuck on the stairs

In an incident that took place in San Francisco, an Uber driver took a wrong turn and ended up driving down the stairs that led out of a grocery store's parking lot. He then blamed it all on Uber's navigation system.
