As Canadian author Charlotte Gray once said: "You can kid the world, but not your sister."
As someone who has a sister, I can attest to the above mentioned fact. Even the tiniest lies you tell about yourself (to yourself) are noticed by your sister, because she IS the only person who knows you even better than you know yourself.

Yes, they can be a bit of a pain (especially when you are dealing with a younger sister who just won¡¯t leave you alone when she was little and tiny), and of course, sibling rivalry is also very real. But overall, a sister is the best gift your parents can give you.
The beauty of having a sister is hidden in all the little things that make your bond stronger. Think of all the inside-jokes that have developed to the point where it only takes a look; animal-like protective instincts for each other; and the profound admiration you get from watching her go through every stage of her life and come out brilliant. So prepare to feel grateful for your sister unit because here are 7 times your sister has been there for you and will continue to have your back forever.

Your sister is the greatest link to your childhood. On days when nostalgia hits you hard, your sister will be the one that will help you recall any old stories or funny incidents that happened. In fact, she will remind you of something super funny and you both will probably end up laughing the whole night reminiscing the best memories of your childhood.
2. When you are fighting with your squad.

When you're fighting with your friends, you can't turn to anyone in that group to vent. You need an outsider who will look at the situation from another perspective ¡ª aka, your sis. Your sister probably even knows your close friend group well enough that you won't need to waste time giving a full backstory on everything. You can jump right into how you're feeling and already start to feel better because your sister completely gets you.
3. When you are struggling with family.

Sometimes, your family reunions can turn into 20 questions about your future, your current job and your love life. It can be seriously exhausting to answer these never ending questions. That's why you need your sister there to help save the day to intervene when required and quickly take support.
4. When you want insanely honest relationship advice.

Big sisters are a great with relationship advice because they have after all, seen it all, done it all and dated more. So when you are seeking brutally honest relationship advice, start banging your sister¡¯s bedroom door already. You can count on your sister to never hold back when she thinks the person you're dating is a complete fool, or when she thinks you aren't giving someone a fair shot.
5. When you have great news to share.

Your sister is your biggest cheerleader since birth so whenever you have a reason to celebrate, naturally you would reach out to her.
