Gone are the times when career opportunities started and ended at being a doctor, an engineer or a government employee.

We are all spoilt for choice especially when it comes to choosing a job that interests you. The list is never ending. Being a fashion designer is not scorned at any more and not aiming to become a doctor is not the end of the world.

So, when I was reading an article today, I came across an opinion stated by a bioarchaeologist. Now, who would have thought that there is such a job where biology and archaeology is merged into one. It led me to wonder if there are any bizarre positions out there in the world waiting to be filled and boy was I surprised!

I have to say some of them made me seriously reconsider my ambitions in life!

1. Drying Paint Watcher

Did you know there are people who are paid to sit and watch paint dry? Well, it is a thing. The person is required to monitor the paint while it dries. Companies want to know what changes occur in the paint in the process of it all!

2. Full Time Netflix Watcher

Yep, there is somebody out there in the world who gets to Netflix and chill before you. They are watching all the shows and Netflix originals that you wait with bated breath. After all you need someone to categorise them, don¡¯t you? These people do exactly that. If you find the experience of finding what you¡¯re searching for on the streaming site seamless, you know who to thank!

3. Odour Judge

You really love that deodorant you wear, don¡¯t you? It must smell really nice and fresh for long hours. Sigh, but I feel bad for the people who have to smell armpits of people who these fresheners are tested on. Yep, there are odour judges who test the longevity and the effectiveness of deodorants, chewing gums and mouth fresheners etc!

4. Scuba Diving Pizza Delivery Guy

I¡¯ll let it sink into you. Pizza and scuba diving together? And that too underwater? Who would want to eat a pizza at the bottom of the ocean! Well, in Florida there¡¯s an underwater hotel that calls for these deliveries in water-tight cases! We think Rob Doyle the pizza delivery guy has the coolest job!

5. Water Slide Tester

Imagine the happiness this person feels every morning! These testers have to slide down water slides in aqua parks to evaluate its safety, decide if the slider will have fun and the time taken to exit the slide. I don¡¯t know about you but I¡¯m trying to search for the next aqua park to sign up for this!

Have you ever used a paper towel that smells lovely. It transports you to the garden of eden on a sweaty day. This feeling of cleanliness comes from the extreme hard work of our fellow paper towel sniffers. They¡¯re hired by manufacturers to test and tell them if the smell works or not.

I think this job would fit perfectly to many couch-potatoes out there. Imagine sleeping on mattresses and testing them. I am sure they have bad days too. A bad mattress may just ruin their day but thankfully our mattress gives us the best sleep ever!

The next time you go on a vacation and find yourself looking a long row of ducks following a master you know who he is. He¡¯s their daddy! Duck masters are hired to care for the ducks and keep them healthy for hotels. Are you day-dreaming already?

In Japan there are people you can hire to apologise for you. I think it should be a worldwide service to be very honest. All tinder dates who ghosted on you will possibly send you an apology. The world will be one happy place and egos will be intact.

Imagine earning money from only sleeping. There are people who are doing it. Scientists are studying their sleep patterns to under this phenomenon that many enjoy. I agree it can be a little eerie to know that someone is observing you while you rest but then we¡¯ve lived with enough creeps to not bother ourselves.

Baby sitting your relative¡¯s kid can be extremely annoying but have you tried thinking of babysitting an ostrich? Nope? There are people in South Africa who do it and their job is to make sure the ostrich babies are not pecking at each other.
