Dum Laga Ke Haisha star Bhumi Pednekar shares an easy recipe to make Ukadiche Modak at home
Taking part in a 10-day-long Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, The Lady Killer actress Bhumi Pednekar shared a beginner-friendly recipe for Ukadiche Modak that you can make at home and enjoy with your loved ones.
Bollywood actress Bhumi Pednekar is a proud Maharashtrian, and is currently in her element as she takes part in the ongoing Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations! From welcoming Ganpati Bappa to visiting the homes of Bollywood bigwigs like Manish Malhotra, Ekta Kapoor and Kartik Aaryan for darshan, Bhumi is immersing herself in the festivities.
Taking the celebrations one step further, she shared an idiot-proof recipe for Ukadiche Modak, a staple during the 10-day-long Ganeshotsav festivities. Dressed in a simple lilac and white kurta set, the Dum Laga Ke Haisha actress can be seen trying her hand at making the sweet even though she says that she is not a cook in her post's caption.

Easy recipe for Ukadiche Modak
What you'll need
For the dough:
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup water
4 tsp ghee
1 cup rice flour
For the filling:
1 coconut (grated)
1.5 tsp poppy seeds
1 cup grated jaggery
1/2 tsp cardamom powder
4-5 haldi leaves
10-12 strands of saffron (kesar)
Method
- To make the dough, simmer the milk in water, add 1/2 tsp ghee along with a pinch of salt and let it simmer. To the boiling mix, add rice flour and stir gently to make a soft and glutinous dough. Knead the dough and set it aside to rest for 10 minutes.
- To make the filling, saut¨¦ the grated coconut in 2 tsp ghee, and then add poppy seeds, grated jaggery and cardamom powder. Mix until everything melts to form a soft and sticky mixture that sticks to the pan.
- To shape the modaks, Grease your hands with ghee and take a portion of the dough. Fill the dough with generously and seal them so that noting comes out. If you're not sure about your ability to shape the modaks to perfection, buy a mould and make your life even more easier!
- Once the modaks are shaped, steam them for 10-12 minutes with haldi leaves and garnish them with a few strands of saffron.
- Once the modaks appear shiny, take them out from the steamer, drizzle them ghee and enjoy!
