Dear Boss, It's True That A Power Nap Is The Key To Productivity! We Have Studies To Back It Up
Power napping is indeed the key to productivity and it would be amazing if we can get our bosses to introduce nap rooms in our offices too. After all, it¡¯s proven to be successful.
As soon as the clock ticks, 1:30 PM, it¡¯s lunch time in the offices. After having a hearty meal and taking 30 minutes break, the toughest part is to keep yourself from dozing off and going back to work. It¡¯s afternoon, you¡¯re half-way through your work day and all you can think of is taking a 15 minutes nap. But the way our offices work, sleeping during work hours is next to committing a sin.
But feeling drowsy at work, especially after you've eaten, is a pretty common phenomenon. After talking to multiple people, we realised that almost every second person feels sleepy after eating lunch at their office. The urge to nap, specially between 2-4 PM, is at its peak and well, today, we are here to make a case for power naps.

Research That Backs Power Napping
According to a study, power nap is more efficient in terms of increasing productivity than caffeine. A company called HubSpot has nap rooms for their employees. They believe that to maintain a balance between personal and professional life, a nap break is great as it helps an individual to re-energise. Power naps are scientifically proven to increase efficiency of employees.
According to Sara Mednick, author of Take a Nap! Change your Life, power naps of different durations have different effects. A 10-20 minute power nap gives you a quick boost of alertness while mitigating the onset of sleep inertia. At the same time, she¡¯s not a huge fan of the 30 minute nap, saying that recovery often takes too long.

Benefits Of Power Napping
1. Improvement In Performance - A NASA research from 1995 studied the benefits of napping on 747 pilots. All the pilots who took a nap exhibited an increase in their performance by 16% to 34%.
2. Efficient Problem Solving - When you nap, you allow your body to reset. You wake up with a fresh mind and you get a new perspective when you look at problems, even the existing ones.
3. Better Mood - A power nap calms you down and you¡¯ll automatically be in a better mood when you wake up. When you¡¯re in a better mood, you work better too.
