Trend Report: India Bridal Fashion Week
After giving bridal pr¨ºt its due importance in the previous year, the sartorial presentation at the sixth edition of India Bridal Fashion Week 2014 was a marvelous display of contemporary design for the modern bride.
Here, we present the top 10 trends that brides-to-be can keep in mind:
The Concept Sari
Blending tulle and resham, this black and gold pallu sari was our favourite from Tarun Tahiliani's assortment of the heavy bridalwear. With unconventional drapes, this sari makes looking good look so effortless, and will be a hit with city brides.
The Diving Bride
No wedding is water-proof. Someone in the bridal party must always shed tears. That's possibly why designers Gauri and Nainika's latest collection is made from the water-resistant Neoprene. With the ability to accentuate an hourglass figure, this is definitely for the avant-garde bride.
Androgyny
?
A touch of androgyny made it to Raghuvendra Rathore's collection this year. Pairing an embroidered bandhgala jacket with ankle-length cigarette pants will add a fresh dimension to a bride's look, and can work for some pre-wedding parties.
Capes
?
We've come to expect something edgy from Falguni and Shane Peacock. So the addition of a cape to the bridal ensemble is expectedly unexpected.? Models walked the ramp in stylised capes paired with asymmetrical anarkalis - like this pearl and gold one worn by showstopper Charu Sachdev.
Opposites Attract
?
Using inspiration from the fashion of the Awadhi period, Meera Muzaffar Ali created a collection of lehenga-cholis that blended the royalty of pearl with the modern flash of sequins, the softness of velvet with the volume of tulle and heavy brocade with light-weight net.
