Reasons Why I Hate Attending Indian Weddings!

Having attended as many as 8 weddings in last 2 weeks, I am dead tired. Yet in the perfect state of mind to write this blog... why I hate attending Indian weddings. Though it's funny that the very irony lies in the title of this blog, because I actually love Indian weddings...

Right from dressing up bright, meeting cousins, dancing non-stop, eating great food and enjoying all the rituals... everything about weddings sound so fancy! But after an overdose of weddings this season, I think it's only wise to look at the flip side of it too. So here I go with my list of things that annoy me the most about attending weddings...

To begin with I hate when my personal life choices become a matter of public discussion. I am sure you'd have also come across aunties poking you with silly questions like 'so when are you getting married beta'. Hello, it is none of your bloody business. It's highly annoying when someone else's wedding becomes a place to dig your own grave.

And if these aunties were not enough, you have distant relatives who make you blood boil with their in the face remarks - "so, next number is yours.' WTF!!! Whether I am ready to be sledged or not is solely my decision, I don't need any validation from you for God sake.

Moving on, I really pity the parents of bride and groom's families who do so much for the guests but in the end, you always have some sulking lot of people who are impossible to be pleased. No matter whatever you do to please them, some anti-social elements would always be there to play the spoilsport. Don't understand if people come to weddings only to crib and complain and not enjoy the celebrations instead.

Another thing which I don't really about Indian wedding is the fact that you have to come face to face with those estranged relatives who you hate with passion and never want to see. I just can't come to terms with the way you are made to perpetually keep a fake smile on your face while greeting these not-pleasant set of guests... imagine, some of these I don't even know or I might be meeting them for the first time ever.

Then you have this set of serial starers who come to weddings only with an agenda to check out people and indulge in shameless gossiping. It's a fact that most of us love to deck up for weddings... right from our outfits to the makeup to the hairdo we don, but I get so turned off when some stupid people give you the dirtiest stares while checking you out from head to toe. And yeah, then whispering comments in each other's ears without any SHAME! I wonder if they have any better thing to do at weddings they attend.

Also when it comes to an elaborated spread of buffet and free alcohol... it is like a rare opportunity for some people and it can't get worse to get into a scuffle with such losers while trying to grab a meal plate or drink. Seems like they starve for an entire month only to jump and satiate their hunger at a wedding. Cheap...Isn't it??

Last but not the least, dealing with maniacs fall you on from all corners while dancing on the DJ floor is perhaps the last thing I would want to tolerate at a wedding. I wish there were bouncers to warn and keep a check on these mad aunties and (drunken) uncles who step on everyone's feet and hence causing additional pain to their ugly dance steps
