Social Media Can Be Used To Create Change And Here's What TikTok Is Doing To Help

Let＊s be honest guys, 9 out of 10 times we head to social media to mindlessly scroll through our news feeds and tag our friends in memes. It＊s a pattern that we need to break. I can＊t think of a time when we don＊t have our smartphones in our hands. It＊s the go-to solution for everything; you are bored 每 scroll through your feed, want to avoid somebody 每 pretend you are chatting, meeting friends 每 click selfies to post later. And if we are the kind who enjoys the anonymity that comes with the digital platform, we turn into trolls.

Today, there＊s more negativity on the web than in our physical social circles and it＊s about time we change that. We need to get out of the vicious digital rut and start using our social skills for good. There＊s a lot that one can do sitting in the confines of your home. Start a campaign to address climate change, talk about animal abuse or spread love for the four-legged buddies that can＊t talk.

While we are still in the reposting and sharing phase of our ＆social causes＊, there＊s one market leader that is proactively encouraging its users to use their platform to create change. In an unprecedented move, TikTok is now pushing people to use the platform for good with their new campaign #TikTokForGood.

The guys at TikTok recently partnered with World For All to raise awareness about several issues, starting with Animal Welfare through their in-app campaign #PetBFF. To bring about a behavioural change and encourage empathy for our fur friends, they have got names like Disha Patani to lend their voice for the cause. She along with other TikTok creators are sending out strong messages to encourage their digital community to create an equal world for humans as well as animals and end animal cruelty. Users can also join this campaign by creating videos with your pets on TikTok and using #PetBFF.

This is not all that TikTok has been doing to bring about a change, previously they have also lent their support to the people of Odisha to help them rebuild their lives after Cyclone Fani hit the coastal state. And more recently, they have partnered with social enterprises like Josh Talks and MASH Project foundation to train and conduct workshops with NGOs pan-India to generate awareness about critical social issues.

The idea is to mobilize the large and ever-growing TikTok community of creators to create a larger social impact. At the first training workshop held in Delhi, the team educated various NGOs on how TikTok can be efficiently utilized as a platform to disseminate information on critical issues, generate support and foster cooperation across the community for social good. More than 80 international and national NGOs attended this event.

All you need to do to join them and bring about a change for the larger social good is to educate others around you on how to spread positive messages and create a harmonious living environment for all.
