Reliance Jio May Be Extending Its Happy New Year Offer Until April 30 To Attract More Prime Members
Rumours suggest the telecom giant is pushing back the last date of the company's cheap internet plan by a month.
With Reliance Jio¡¯s Happy New Year offer expiring March 31, users are left with four days to sign up for a Jio Prime membership, in order to keep their low and data rates. Now, rumours indicate the company may be extending the offer¡¯s deadline once more.
According to TeleAnalysis, which quotes internal sources at Reliance Jio, the company is unhappy with the slow adoption rate of its Prime Membership plan, and is hoping to improve those numbers by extending the deadline by another month.
In the report, it says that only 22-27 million of Reliance Jio¡¯s more than 100 million subscribers have subscribed to Jio Prime so far, approximately 50 percent of the company¡¯s expected Prime signups. However, there¡¯s not yet been any confirmation on the matter from the telecom giant. It¡¯s likely possible that the company will only make an announcement (if any) on the last day of the current deadline, in the hopes the last minute rush will propel consumers to sign up for a Prime membership
The Jio Prime membership plan allows users to extend the Happy New Year offer for a full year. It requires paying Rs 99 as a subscription fee, as well as a monthly Rs 303 for unlimited data (28 GB), capped at 1GB per day. However, there is a way to get that subscription fee waived off, as we reported earlier this month.
The company also announced a ¡°Buy One Get One Free¡± offer, which allows an additional 5GB of data on a recharge of Rs 303, and an additional 10GB data on a recharge of Rs 499 or higher.
So, if you¡¯ve so far been on the fence about subscribing to Jio Prime, it¡¯s probably a good idea to wait just a little longer. If the company doesn¡¯t announce an extension by deadline day, there likely isn¡¯t going to be one. And if that rumour proves to be true, waiting another month gives you the chance to holdout for another possible special offer.
