And for our safety, we are told not to leave our houses after it gets dark because instead of teaching men to not rape, it's better to lock women in their houses. But imagine, if every single man in the country had a 9:00 pm curfew. As soon as it became dark, men would have to go back home and stay indoors. And women could do as they please the whole night...
That's the premise behind a viral Twitter thread that asks, "What would you do if all men had a 9:00 pm curfew?"

I¡¯d go for a walk in the dark without leaping out of my skin at little noises. Just thinking about going somewhere alone without anxiety seems like a dream. Is this how guys feel all the time?

Go out to bars by myself, walk with both headphones in my ears without my keys in between my fingers inmy hand.

As long as everything else stays open past 9...go live my best life!

Go to the grocery store
Go for a walk in the park
Drive out to where the light pollution ends & look at the stars
Go to bars & take a ride share home while drunk
Go outside & forget my phone at home & not worry

I would walk to my car with my keys in my purse and not spread between my fingers as a potential weapon. I would listen to music on headphones, as I strolled and admired the lit street lamps in Central Park.

A close friend of mine told me she would love to go string up a hammock in the park and look at the stars.

I want to spend some time really looking at the stars. I haven¡¯t done that since I was a kid. Just really looking, outside, lying in the grass or on the hood of a car or something. But outside. Yeah. That sounds nice.

I would not have crouched behind a car tonight when a car with no headlights drove past as I was walking to my car.

I would stop beginning my days by planning where I need to park so that it's safe to go to my car when I'm finally done for the day. I would travel to all the places I've longed to see, but fear to go alone. I would... breathe free and easy, enjoying the stars and the night air.

I'd book an airbnb without feeling the need to limit my options based on the owner's gender. I'd take a taxi without needing to feel on guard. I'd wear whatever shoes made me feel good instead of planning for escape. I'd quit dumping my drinks at a bar anytime I looked away.

Isn't it sad how women can't even do the most simple things like grocery shopping or sitting in a park without worrying about their safety? For all the men reading this, we are not labeling every man a rapist, but it's time you stand with women and put an end to this.
