The Obama administration will push for the stalled mega deals for M-777 ultra-light howitzers and Javelin anti-tank guided missiles (ATGMs) with US defense secretary Chuck Hagel visiting India. Having bagged defence deals worth over $10 billion over the last decade, the US is obviously hungry for more.

Deal amount: $1.4 billion

The radar-equipped AH-64D Apache Longbow has longer-range weapons accuracy and all-weather/night fighting, claims Boeing.

According to Boeing the AH-64D Apache Longbow is capable of classifying and threat-prioritization of up to 128 targets in less than a minute.
Boeing claims that the helicopters boast of integrated sensors, networking, and digital communications for situational awareness, management of the combat arena in real time, and digital transmission of images and target locations to joint operations battlefield commanders.

Fitted with air-to-air missiles, an Apache helicopter has the capability to take on enemy choppers and UAV, providing support to ground troops. Another 39 helicopters will be ordered later.

Armed with deadly Harpoon Block-II missiles, MK-54 lightweight torpedoes, rockets and depth charges, these sensor and radar-packed aircraft are the country's 'intelligent hawk eyes' over the Indian Ocean Region that is increasingly getting militarized.

With a maximum speed of 907 kmph and an operating range of over 1,200 nautical miles, 'with four hours on station', the P-8Is are be able to detect 'threats' ¡ª and neutralize them if required ¡ª far before they come anywhere near Indian shores.
Equipped with foreign and indigenous sensors for maritime reconnaissance, anti-submarine operations and electronic intelligence missions, the aircraft is fully integrated with state-of-the-art sensors and highly potent anti-surface and anti-submarine weapons.
Deal amount: $2.5 billion

According to Lockheed Martin, the Javelin is a lightweight, man-portable, shoulder-fired, fire-and-forget medium antitank weapon system designed to provide high lethality against all known and projected threat armor.
Javelin includes a fire-and-forget, imaging infrared missile and a command launch unit consisting of a day sight for use in clear conditions and an imaging infrared sight for use at night and in reduced visibility, says Lockheed Martin.
Deal amount: $200 million

According to Boeing, the Harpoon is an anti-ship missile that features autonomous, all-weather, over-the-horizon capability. The missile uses GPS-aided inertial navigation to hit a designated target aimpoint, says Boeing.

The air-mobile M-777 howitzers, with an almost 30-km range, can be swiftly deployed in high-altitude areas in Arunachal Pradesh and Ladakh by helicopters and aircraft to counter China.

M-777 is a 39 caliber towed gun which is meant to meet the requirement for rapidly deployable and accurate artillery fire support.
M-777 is the world's first 155mm Howitzer weighing less than 10000 lbs (4218 kg). According to BAE Systems, which manufactures these guns, the M-777 is 'highly mobile on land, at sea and in the air.'
