Earthquake Of 4.5 Magnitude Shook Chamba District In Himachal Pradesh, Sixth In 3 Days Time
A 4.5 magnitude earthquake strikes again in Himachal Pradesh¡¯s Chamba district on Sunday night. The department of meteorological said that no loss of life and property was reported.
The earthquake was recorded at 11.47 pm, as reported by Shimla Meteorological Centre Director Manmohan Singh.
This is the sixth quake in three days in Chamba district.
The epicenter of the quake was at a depth of 10 km northeast of Chamba.
Director Manmohan also said ¡°mild tremors were also felt in adjoining areas¡±
On Friday itself, five earthquakes of magnitude ranging from 3 to 4.3 shook Chamba district. The quakes were recorded between 5.11 pm and 8.43 pm.
Most parts of Himachal Pradesh including Chamba which falls into the high seismic sensitive zones.
Before in the year 1905, an earthquake of 7.8 magnitude had devastated the Kangra district and killed over 20,000 people.
