"This is an IT employee from India who is 23 and earns approximately 1 lakh per month. I think I earn pretty well but I still I have an inferior feeling in myself that I am not doing well. This is because I see my friends doing higher studies in abroad and their stories and posts makes me jealous to be honest. Is staying in India inferior to settling in abroad," the individual posted on Reddit.

They also mention that even if they study more and advance their career in India, the infrastructure and living standards might not match those abroad.

"I don't wish to go to other countries and study leaving a good job and all other things here but the social pressure is making me feel inferior," they add.

In the comments, many people highlighted the negative aspects of social media.

One person mentioned, "I've been off insta my entire 4 years of college, used to have a private id but deactivated it last year. So much peace, I don't know what's going on in whose life and so there's no comparison or whatsoever."

Do a Risk analysis and you might figure out if its really worth it for you... Higher studies abroad do have their own benefits but they come at a significant cost... Everyone wants to show off and hide the struggles."

Another commenter highlighted the challenges of settling abroad. They pointed out that while exploring the world and finding personal peace is a valid choice, it's important to be practical. Moving abroad involves hefty university fees and often requires taking low-paying jobs initially. After significant effort, finding a good job can lead to further struggles with work permits and competitive permanent residency processes. Even if you obtain residency, high taxes, expensive insurance, and long wait times for medical appointments can be significant hurdles. Over several years, you may achieve some stability, but the high cost of living and other financial pressures might leave you with little savings.

They noted, "Life is good abroad but pls get ready for the struggle! If you land there at a good income job, still the struggle I described above is inevitable."
