Ram Mandir Consecration: 15 Couples From Across India To Be 'Yajmans' For Pran Pratishtha

On Monday, during the "pran pratishtha" ceremony of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya, a total of 15 couples from diverse castes and sections across the country will serve as "yajmans" (hosts).

The couples, including Dalits, tribals, OBCs (including Yadav), and other castes, will perform rituals at the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple.

The list of 14 names, shared by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, includes individuals from various regions and communities, such as tribal leader Ramchandra Kharadi, three individuals from Varanasi, and others from Assam, Jaipur, Tamil Nadu, Mumbai, and different parts of the country.

Three yajman are from Varanasi, the Lok Sabha constituency of PM Narendra Modi. They include Anil Chaudhary, dom raja of Kashi. Doms have been responsible for lighting pyres for generations at Manikarnika and Harishachandra Ghats in Varanasi. They also claim themselves to be the ¡°inheritor of the legacy of mythological king Kaaloo Dom¡±. Kailash Yadav and Kaveendra Pratap Singh are the other two names from Varanasi.

Other names on the list are Ram Kui Jemi of Assam, Sardar Guru Charan Singh Gill (Jaipur), Krishna Mohan (Hardoi, from Ravidasi samaj), Ramesh Jain (Multani), Adalarasan (Tamil Nadu), Vitthalrao Kamble (Mumbai), Mahadev Rao Gaikwad (Latur, Ghumantu samaj trustee), Lingraj Vasavaraj Appa (Kalaburagi in Karnataka), Dilip Valmiki (Lucknow), and Arun Chaudhary (Palwal in Haryana).

Anil Mishra, an RSS leader, and his wife Usha will serve as the "pradhan yajman" (main hosts) during the ceremony. The consecration event will witness the presence of dignitaries, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, trust president Nrtiya Gopal Das, UP Governor Anandiben Patel, and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Consecration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya

The consecration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya will be held today, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi attending the rituals, following which the shrine will be opened for the public a day later. The ¡° Pran Pratishtha¡± ceremony will begin at 12.20 p.m. and is expected to end by 1 p.m.

Modi will then address a gathering of more than 7,000 people, including seers and prominent personalities, at the venue. While about 8,000 people are in the long list of invitees, the select list features 506 A-listers, including prominent politicians, leading industrialists, top film stars, sportspersons, diplomats, judges and high priests.

To commemorate the occasion, the Centre has given half-a-day off to all the Government employees which includes Public Sector Banks. Several States have also followed suit and declared a public holiday.
