It was party time for thieves who broke into a beer shop just outside the premises of the collectorate. The unidentified men broke into the shop in the high-security area on Sunday night and drank their fill from bottles and cans for hours, before making away with 26 crates. They then proceeded to break into the chambers of five lawyers, robbing the premises before escaping from the spot, according to officials.
According to the police, the theft came to light on Monday morning when locals and fellow shopkeepers found the shutter of the shop broken and empty bottles and cans strewn around.
The police team investigating the scene found the remnants of a night-long party, giving the impression that the unidentified thieves had drunk throughout the night. "There were several empty bottles and cans lying around the premises," said circle officer, Kotwali, Mukul Dwivedi. "After taking stock of his loss, the shop owner in his complaint has mentioned that the thieves took away 26 crates of beer, each containing 12 bottles, which means they took away around 312 bottles," Dwivedi added. Besides the shop owner also mentioned that an entire crate was lying empty, which meant the thieves finished 12 bottles during the night.
