3 Friends Cycle From Mumbai To Kanyakumari Without Missing Work, Turn Dhabas Into Workstations
The trio did their office work from 'dhabas' they found on the highway or from lodges and cycled for 80 Kms daily while they cycled more on the weekends.
Due to the pandemic, many of us have been working from our homes for quite a while now.
To be more specific, we have actually been working from our beds but there's a trio of friends who have been working from their cycles. Bakcen George, Allwyn Joseph, and Ratish Bhalerao cycled all the way from Mumbai to Kanyakumari while not missing office.
They pedalled from Mumbai to Kanyakumari, covering a distance of 1,687 kilometres. While George had planned to go on the long-distance cycling trip in late November, his friends joined in just two days before the journey began.

"It was worth it for sure. We enjoy both kinds of vacations and holidays. Family vacations have their charm, but adventure holidays are like a gift to yourself. Cycling doesn¡¯t feel like a chore. It¡¯s liberating and exhilarating," George told The Indian Express.
George said the travelling in head and rain was difficult but he pointed out that such challenges also come up during regular holiday trips. The trio made highway dhabas and lodges their makeshift workstations. Their gadgets added weight to their cycles but the experience was fun.
"Started at 4 am, started work at 11 am"
"Our only goal was to reach the destination. The idea was to take one day at a time. We would typically start as early as 4 am and try our best to reach a commonly agreed destination by 11 am to start our work," George said.
Their work schedule may not have allowed them to explore all the tourist places but it was talking to locals and trying different cuisines that were the best parts of their journey.
"The overall experience of riding along beautiful scenic routes was beautiful and enriching. Even though we were cycling, we got a lot of time to spend with each other, to think and reflect about life in general," Bhalerao said.
Pedalled through scenic Pune, Bengaluru
They pedalled through the scenic route in Pune, Satara, Kolhapur, Belgaum, Hubali, Davanagere, Bengaluru, Salem, Madhuri and Tirunelveli.
The whole trip was budget-friendly as they spent around Rs 25,000 each, most of the amount going towards lodges.
Though few hotels denied them stay due to Covid restrictions, the pandemic offered them the opportunity to make the dream trip a reality while not compromising with their work lives. Their managers encouraged them for the trip and asked them to ensure their work wasn't affected. All their colleagues were happy and proud when the trip was completed.
