7 Arrested In Delhi For Having Illegal Liquor, Misusing Curfew Passes Amid Covid-19 Lockdown
In the last 24 hours, at least seven people in Delhi have been booked for possessing illegal alcohol.
From misusing curfew passes issued in wake of the lockdown to carrying liquor bottles in milk containers, the accused exploited various means for the purpose. It comes in the wake of the rising cases across the country.
On Tuesday, a resident of Mangolpuri, who had a curfew pass with him, was caught carrying five bottles of liquor. His movement pass has been cancelled.
In another incident, two men were held for accompanying a man who had liquor bottles with him. These men too had curfew passes.
¡°A letter has been written to the South Delhi Municipal Corporation for cancellation of their movement passes,¡± a police officer said.
Another man, who works at a chemist shop, was caught consuming liquor at a public place in Rani Bagh. In total, seven people were nabbed for their reckless acts and making use of curfew passes to obtain illegal alcohol.
The total number of coronavirus cases in the national capital on Tuesday rose to 576, with 51 fresh cases and two deaths being reported in a day, according to the Delhi health department.
The health ministry has said that till date total 402 people have been discharged, total 5,194 positive confirmed case have been reported. In last one day, 773 positive cases were reported. Total 149 deaths have been reported and around 32 people have died on Tuesday.
