7 Reasons Why Shashi Tharoor Is A Misfit In Indian Politics
Even if you were a stranger to Indian politics, you¡¯d be able to spot him from a lineup of other politicians. For one, he¡¯d be telling the others how to iron their khadi kurtas properly, and then livetweeting the event. He¡¯s just not cut out for Indian politics and here are six reasons why.
1. Lacks essential finger-pointing skills
All politicians worth their namak partake in a bit of finger-pointing. It¡¯s the done thing ¨C what¡¯s a politican without mudslinging his enemies? But then there¡¯s Tharoor, who just praised Modi for the Swacch Bharat Mission.
2. Doesn't know how to please crowds
The crowds want drama!
The crowds want to be promised unlimited electricity, unlimited wi-fi, and unlimited lassi! And if you give the crowds a balanced analysis of India¡¯s socio-economic situation, this is what you get:
3. He also doesn't look the part
Rahul Gandhi can afford something from Versace, but wears a kurta that might¡¯ve been stolen from a poor farmer, and has hidden his dimples with stubble. Laloo Yadav literally looks like he just walked off the farm.
4. He has nothing to chest thump about
If 2014 politics were an equation, a blackboard would read ¡®Modi = Gujarat + Development¡¯. We know Tharoor has something to do with Kerala, but we¡¯re not clear what exactly he¡¯s done there.
5. He still hasn¡¯t figured out that the media will spin things
@KanchanGupta absolutely, in cattle class out of solidarity with all our holy cows!
¡ª Shashi Tharoor (@ShashiTharoor) September 14, 2009
From the famous cattle class incident (where the media had to be literally educated that cattle class means seats in Economy class, to his more recent support of Modi¡¯s Swacch Bharat), Tharoor doesn¡¯t seem to register that the media wants drama.
6. Can't hide his tracks properly!
We¡¯ve made an easy to understand diagram of how black money is (supposedly) moved around.
For Tharoor¡¯s Kochi Tusker¡¯s debacle, this is what the trail suggested
7. He forgets the Kerala sarkar guys
The Kerala Congress leadership rarely agrees on a decision, but they quickly united to kick out Tharoor. You need to keep your local politicians happy. They were also possibly jealous of his direct radio link with Sonia Gandhi!
