9 Things You Need To Know About The First Lady IPS Officer From Kashmir
IPS officer Dr Ruveda Salam was recently interviewed by Rediff. She is the first woman from the Kashmir Valley to qualify in the Union Public Service Commission examination in 2013. Her father inspired her to clear UPSC and she is joing IAS soon.
The Kashmir Valley may be the paradise most ruined by the impact of seperatist and terrorist elements across the world; if not just in India. But every now and then we come across a Kashmiri who really sets a great example not just for the youngsters of the valley but also for the nation. One such person is IPS officer Dr Ruveda Salam who was recently interviewed by Rediff.
Here are some of really interesting things you need to know about this amazing lady:
#1 She studied medicine before applying for UPSC exams.

Yep! She completed her MBBS from the Government Medical College in Srinagar.
#2 She cleared the Kashmir State Administrative Service Exam before attempting UPSC
But instead of pursuing a post graduation in medicine, she began pursuing administrative services.
#3 She made the valley proud
She became the first woman from the Kashmir Valley to qualify in the Union Public Service Commission examination in 2013.
#4 It was her father who inspired her to clear UPSC
He always told her that she should joing Indian Administrative Services and that's what made her more determined.
#5 She is joing IAS soon
Yes! she has cleared the UPSC exam for a second time and has secured a higher rank which enables her to join the coveted IAS.
#6 She Joined IPS last year
She trained in Hyderabad and has been posted in Chennai as an ACP for past 8 months.
#7 She wants to use her IPS training in her IAS life
Especially the fitess regime which she wants to continue always.
#8 She wants to do social work too
In her personal goals she lists striking a work-life balance as really important followed by doing social work and helping people.
#9 She loves poetry and trying new food
She also loves interact with locals and learning more about their culture.
