For Lobin Sabar, his teaching job might be over post retirement, but teaching hasn't taken a backseat.
The retired school teacher has been offering free education to the children of poor tribals in Sohda Sabar, a village in East Singhbhum district of Jharkhand.
Before he was offering free education to these children, Sabar was a teacher at the Scheduled Tribe Residential Girls High School in Chaibasa district, according to a report by The New Indian Express.
He retired in February.
When his teaching job got over and he returned to his village, Sabar was shocked to see children wasting the entire day roaming around and playing.
He then asked their parents why these children do not go to school.
¡°They said, ¡®what will the children do in school if they have to become farmers?¡¯ I decided to do something to change their mindset,¡± he told IE.
He somehow convinced the families in his neighbourhood to send their children to his house and started giving primary education to them.
Sabar and his niece Nilima, who is pursuing her B.Ed, together teach these children.
