The cops soon replied to Shobha stating that the officer did not belong to Mumbai police.
We love puns too Ms De but this one is totally imisplaced. Uniform/official not ours. We expect better from responsible citizens like you. https://t.co/OcKOoHO5bX

De who was widely criticised for her tasteless tweet was still unapologetic and advised the cop to "consult a dietician".
Mumbai/Maharashtra Police, pranaam. No offence intended. M.P. police, consult a dietician, if it's an asli ,undoctored image doing the rounds

So what is the story behind the photo?
The cop in the picture is named Daulatram Jogawat, and he is indeed an inspector with Madhya Pradesh Police.
But, how does someone his size make it to police, where the personal are supposed to to be fit and agile?
Well, Jogawat wasn't always this way, to begin with. According to News 18, his obesity was the result of a gallbladder operation in 1993 which caused insulin imbalance in his body.
Jogawat, who is posted in Neemuch now weighs over 180 kilos. On Shobha De mocking him without knowing his side of the story, Jogawat said if he would be happy if De can suggest some weight-loss treatment.
"Nobody loves to be overweight. If madam knows about some weight-loss treatment, then help me lose weight. It is not good to mock someone without having any detail about the person."
Even his superiors in the police came in defence of Jogawat. Speaking to News 18, Superintendent of Police Manoj Singh said, "Despite facing health problems, Jogawat performs his duty with the utmost sincerity. He was lauded by the court many times for his work.¡±
