Over 54.7 lakh people have been affected in 4,941 villages across 32 districts.
A total of 845 relief camps and 1025 relief distribution centres have been set up by the district administrations in the affected districts, where over 2.71 lakh people are taking shelter.
Nearly 55 people affected due to floods
As per a bulletin of the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), 54,57,601 people have been affected by the floods in 32 of the 36 districts in the state.
Among the worst-affected districts is Barpeta where 11,29,390 people are suffering, Kamrup where 7,89,496 people are affected, and Dhubri where 5,97,153 people are hit by the devastation.
Fire and emergency services personnel swung into action as the Chirang district's flood worsened on Wednesday.
'PM Modi busy in toppling Maharashtra govt'
Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi on Thursday took potshots at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not visiting Assam and announcing a special package amid the flood situation.

He said that PM Modi should visit the state and announce a special package, but he is busy toppling the Maharashtra government and the Gujarat elections.
Gogoi, the Deputy Leader of Lok Sabha INC, further said that BJP has gone blind for power, and only power is everything for them.
ANI quoted Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi saying, "If there's a crisis, it's that of floods. BJP has gone blind for power. He wrote to his official Twitter handle, "Mainstream channels which are covering political news in Guwahati, please cover the desperation of people in Silchar and Karimganj. They don¡¯t have water, people are dying, and shamshaans are overflowing with water. I'm getting many calls and trying to help as many. #BJPisBusy" (sic)
