Balakot Has Been Reactivated By Pakistan And About 500 Infiltrators Waiting To Enter J&K, Says Army Chief
He said around 500 infiltrators were waiting to infiltrate into the country.
Army Chief General Bipin Rawat has said that the terror camp in Pakistan¡¯s Balakot has been reactivated and informed that at least 500 infiltrators are in the waiting to enter into Jammu and Kashmir from Pakistan.
The Indian Air Force had carried out surgical strikes earlier this year to destroy terror camps in Balakot. It was carried out in retaliation to the deadly terror attacks on CRPF personnel in Pulwama in February this year.
"Balakot has been reactivated by Pakistan very recently. That shows that Balakot has been affected. It had been damaged and destroyed. And that is why people have got away from there and now it has been reactivated," he told reporters after inaugurating the Young Leaders Training Wing at Officers Training Academy in Chennai.
The General further said that more troops had been deployed and that there was no hesitation to go beyond strikes in Balakot. But, he maintained, the army would like to keep Pakistan guessing.
He said around 500 infiltrators were waiting to infiltrate into the country.
"...some action had been taken by Indian Air Force and now they have got the people back there," he said.
He further said that to push terrorists into India, Pakistan violates the ceasefire and the Indian Army knows how to deal with that. He shared that the army has pushed in more troops along the Line of Control (LoC).
However, according to The Times of India, the Army Chief did not comment on how long the restrictions in Jammu and Kashmir would continue.
