The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has issued an apology and sacked an official after an elderly farmer was denied entry over his attire.
The development came on Monday after a video went viral on social media showing the security supervisor barring the farmer from using the metro services for not being "appropriately dressed."
Stopped from travelling over dirty dress
According to the person who posted the video on X, the incident happened at the Rajajinagar Metro station on February 18.
"Unbelievable....Is metro only for VIPs? Is there a dress code to use metro? I appreciate actions of Karthik C Airani, who fought for the right of a farmer at Rajajinagar metro station. We need more such heroes everywhere," he said.

In the video, the elderly man, who is carrying a bag on his head is seen standing helplessly as he was stopped by the security staff.
Public transport has no dress code
However, soon the person behind the elderly man intervenes on his behalf and questions the security staff.
He pointed out that the Bengaluru Metro was a public transport and doesn't have a dress code for passengers. He is also heard saying that none of the things in the elderly man was prohibited by the metro's rules.
As more commuters started speaking in support of the elderly man, he was finally allowed to proceed.
The commuter who argued on the elderly man's behalf also told him in Hindi to tag along with him and ensured he travelled in the metro.
Official sacked, probe ordered
After the video went viral, Maheshwar Rao, the MD of BMRCL, issued the sacking order of the security supervisor and also assured a probe.
