An FIR has been registered against BJP leader and disqualified former AAP MLA from Karawal Nagar, Kapil Mishra after a controversial tweet for stoking communal hatred.
"If you want pollution to come down, then you should reduce these firecrackers and not the ones burst on Diwali," Mishra said in a tweet with the photo of a Muslim family.
The tweet was later taken down by Twitter for violating its guidelines.
Mahmood Ahmed, a resident of Joga Bai Extension filed the complaint at the Jamia Nagar Police Station requesting to register an FIR under relevant sections of the Information Technology Act and the Indian Penal Code. He alleged that Mishra's tweet allegedly sought to "create enmity, hatred and communal violence".
"This is to bring to your notice that Mr. Kapil Mishra, a Bharatiya Janata Party leader from Delhi, has on 28 October 2019 made inflammatory comments targeting the Muslim community through his Twitter handle: @KapilMishra_IND," the complaint read.

I've filed an FIR against @KapilMishra_IND for this tweet containing communal hate-speech inciting violence against minorities.

Let's see to what extent Modi govt. goes in protecting a BJP leader.
Failure of the police to prosecute him will force me to seek judicial recourse. https://t.co/oEZyw0uNfa pic.twitter.com/6kgZxFHvwp
Mishra, hit back saying he had only posted pictures of children but "they are seeing them as Muslims".
"There is no mention of Hindu or Muslim in my tweet. If the picture would have been of a Hindu family, would they have reacted in the same manner," he said in a tweet.
But he has been facing severe criticism for his comment.
Kapil Misra ji population is the biggest problem we are facing and Muslims are against any govt control but we should be able to explain it to them in a better way
