Major fire in Delhi market last month
Last month in November, the wholesale market of Bhagirat Palace neighbourhood in North Delhi's Chandni Chowk was the scene of a major fire that destroyed more than 100 shops. The fire was brought to control after over 12 hours, a fire department official had revealed. A total 40 fire vehicles and 200-plus fire personnel were deployed to control the fire.
The fire that broke out at one shop soon spread to adjacent ones, all dealing in supplying electrical appliances, officials added.
Weak structures, a lack of water, and small roads, according to fire officials, made it difficult for Delhi Fire Service to carry out its fire-fighting operations.
