Chartered Plane Crashes In Mumbai's Ghatkopar Suburbs, 5 Dead
The aircraft was less than three km away from Mumbai airport main runway 27 when it crashed
A King Air C90 charter aircraft crashed in Ghatkopar on Thursday afternoon. According to the BMC control room, five bodies have been found by the fire brigade officers. The plane was going to land at the Mumbai airport when it crashed in Ghatkopar which is some distance away.
The aircraft crashed onto an under-construction building called Jagruti around 1.30 pm, said a source. The aircraft was less than three km away from Mumbai airport main runway 27 when it crashed.
Among those dead were two pilots, two Aircraft Maintenance Engineers on board and one person on the ground, Directorate General of Civil Aviation informed. It took about an hour to contain the fire and put it out.
The plane, a Beechcraft King Air C90 turboprop, was sold by the Uttar Pradesh government to a Mumbai-based company, UY Aviation, in 2014.

According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation or DGCA, the plane took off from the Juhu airport on a test flight.
In images posted on Twitter, the plane is seen burning in flames while crowd has gathered around the debris.
