Chennai Fraud - Woman Cheats Several Job Aspirants, Takes Rs 50 Lakh From Them
A 52-year-old woman has allegedly cheated many people after saying she would help them get jobs and managed to get as much as Rs 50 lakh from the unsuspecting victims.
A 52-year-old woman has allegedly cheated many people after saying she would help them get jobs and managed to get as much as Rs 50 lakh from the unsuspecting victims.
Police in Chennai have arrested her. The accused's name is D Janunadevi, who hails from Akkarai near Neelankarai.
As per a TOI report, she duped several people telling them she could help them get jobs in various departments of Tamil Nadu government because of good contacts.
Jamunadevi was arrested by Neelankarai police after a tip-off about her hideout. The action against the woman came after multiple complaints against the accused.
A victim identified as S Saravanan approached police saying the woman cheated him of Rs 12 lakh by promising a job for his wife in a state government department.
The woman has been sent to Puzhal jail after she was produced before a magistrate.
"We suspect that the woman may have been operating in other states too. It is just that some people here have come out against her," the report quoted a police officer as saying.
Police have also asked people to remain vigilant against such people promising jobs in government departments.
Such scams are nothing new but still people from prey to them. The best thing to do is to verify the story before blindly paying money.
Usually when large amounts are involved, it is best to be safe than sorry.
