Indian Air Force Day 2020 : 28 Combat Aircraft Of Indian Air Force

On October 8, the Indian Air Force celebrated its 88th Foundation Day celebrations at the Hindon Air Force Station This time Rafale has also been included in the Airforce fleet, it is included in the Airforce fleet for the first time which will be special to see.

According to the Indian Air Force, a total of 56 aircraft, including 19 fighter jets, 7 cargo aircraft, and 19 helicopters will participate in the Air Force Parade. During the parade, Rafale fighter aircraft will fly with Jaguar. Apart from this, along with Sukhoi and Tejas, Here's a list of the combat aircraft of Indian Air Force

Combat Aircraft

1. Dassault Rafale

The Rafale a strategic weapon in the hands of IAF include its Beyond Visual Range (BVR) Meteor air-to-air missile with a range in excess of 150 km. Its integration on the Rafale jets will mean IAF can hit targets inside both Pakistan and across the northern and eastern borders while staying within India's territorial boundary.

2. CH-47 Chinook

One of the world's heaviest chopper in the world CH-47 Chinook can carry cargo up to 9.6 tonnes. It can be used for operation in hilly areas. Chinook is quite dynamic and apart from movement of military hardware, it also performs in missions such as disaster relief operations.

3. Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-27

The Mikoyan MIG-27 is a flogger fighter ground attack aircraft which is the successful MiG-23 "Flogger" interceptor The swing-wing capabilities of the original Flogger lent itself well to the low-level activities and short take-off and landings inherent in the close-support role.

4. Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-29

Mikoyan MiG-29 Air superiority and multirole fighter jet which Manufacturer by Mikoyan India manages dozen of MiG-29s for its air force and navy air arms making it one of the primary export operators of the aircraft. This aircraft came into limelight when it beat Lamborghini Huracan Supercar At Goa Airport.

5. HAL Tejas

HAL Tejas is, India's first Self-Made Fighter Jet. It is a full-weaponised fighter jet. In a ceremony at the Aero India 2019, the country¡¯s military aviation regulator CEMILAC handed over its final operational clearance certificate to the Chief of Air Staff Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa.

6. Dassault Mirage 2000

Dassault Mirage 2000 a Multirole aircraft Introduced by the French Air Force in 1984, in its air defence variant a world reference in terms of availability, maintenance and evolutivity More than 500 Mirage 2000 operational in the world Exported in 8 countries. 12 Indian Air Force (IAF) Mirage-2000 fighter jets, made by Dassault Aviation. 7. Sukhoi Su-30Mki

The Sukhoi Su-30MKI is a multirole combat fighter aircraft jointly developed by the Sukhoi Design Bureau and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for the Indian Air Force (IAF). Based on the Su-30 fighter aircraft, Su-30MKI is equipped with thrust vectoring control and canards. SU 30 MKI is currently most advanced fighter jet in indian air froce.

8. SEPECAT Jaguar

Jaguar is a twin-engine, ground attack aircraft designed and developed jointly by Breguet of France and the UK-based British Aircraft Corporation (BAC). Indian Air Force (IAF) placed a $1bn order in 1978 to procure 40 Jaguars and license to build 120 Jaguar aircraft at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).

9. Embraer R-99

This Airborne early warning and control, remote sensing, Maritime patrol R-99 is Designed and manufactured by Embraer. The aircraft based on the ERJ 145 civil regional jet. The R-99 series are equipped with Rolls-Royce AE1 3007 turbofan engines. The military versions provide 20% more thrust than the civil version.The first flight was in 1999.

10. Beriev A-50

A-50 is Airborne Early Warning and Control Aircraft was developed and manufactured by the Beriev Aircraft Research and Engineering Complex Joint Stock Company based at Taganrog in the Rostov Region of Russia. The A-50 aircraft was followed by four variants: A-50M, A-50U, A-50I and A-50E/I and the A-50I is a variant specifically developed to meet the requirements of the Indian Air Force.

The Virus is a very capable touring aircraft. With long range tanks it has 7 hours endurance at 120 knots and with a higher wing loading it cuts through heavy turbulence with ease.

The Gulfstream III Large business Jet is manufactured by Gulfstream Aerospace between 1979 and 1986. It comfortable for 12 passengers, with the maximum configuration seating 19. A single gulfstream SRA operates by IAF, registered as VT-ENR, for ELINT duties and targeted almost exclusively against pakistan.

14. Ilyushin Il-78

The Ilyushin IL-78 air-to-air refuelling tanker aircraft is a four-engine tanker principally used for in-flight refuelling. This aircraft can refuel a maximum of four planes on the ground. It can also be used as a military transport aircraft for air drop and air landing of cargo and crew.

15. Boeing 737

Boeing 737 is Twin engine turbofan, VIP passenger aircraft manufactured by Boeing Commercial Airplane with total seating capacity of upto 60 passengers. It has a max cruise speed of 943 km/hr.

16. Boeing C-17 Globemaster III

Boeing C-17 Globemaster III is a high-wing, four-engine, T-tailed military transport aircraft, the multi-service C-17 can carry large equipment, supplies and troops directly to small airfields in harsh terrain anywhere in the world. In unpredictable conditions this aircraft can tackles distance, destination and heavy, oversized payloads. It has delivered cargo in every worldwide operation since the 1990s.

17. Ilyushin Il-76

Ilyushin Il-76 is a four engine heavy duty and long haul military transport aircraft manufactured by Tashkent Aviation Production Association and Aviastar-SP with a max speed of 850 km/hr. It has a twin 23 mm cannon in tail turret and capacity to carry 225 paratroopers or 40 tonnes freight, wheeled or tracked armoured vehicles.

18. Antonov An-32

An-32 is a twin engine, tactical light transport aircraft designed and manufactured by Antonov Design Bureau of Ukraine for the Indian Air Force (IAF). Its Nato reporting name is Cline. The An-32 is derived from the An-26 transport aircraft. A total of 240 An-32s are currently operational worldwide.

19. Embraer Legacy 600

Legacy 600 business jet designed and manufactured by Embraer. It can carries 13 passengers in three partitioned sections for 5,650 km or 8 passengers for 6,390 km.

20. Dornier Do 228

The Do-228 is a twin-engine, multirole light transport aircraft designed and manufactured jointly by Dornier GmbH and RUAG Aerospace. In 1983, Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL) bought a production licence and manufactured 125 aircraft. The Do-228 can be used in both passenger and cargo transportation, as an air taxi, for corporate purposes, for aircrew training, maritime surveillance, search and rescue, border patrolling and medical evacuation missions.

21. Lockheed Martin C-130J Super Hercules

Lockheed Martin C-130J Super Hercules Designed and manufactured by Lockheed Martin for Military transport and aerial refuelling. The C-130J Super Hercules, which helped in saving thousands of lives during Uttarakhand and Kashmir floods and the deadly Nepal earthquake early last year. C-130J is capable of landing on short runaway, even on 'kucha' terrain and that's why they prove so critical in such operations.

22. Hawker Siddeley HS 748

Hawker Siddeley HS 748 Designed and manufactured by Avro, Hawker Siddeley and Hindustan Aeronautics. It can carries between 48 and 51 passengers, at four abreast and 76cm (30in) pitch. Max seating for 58.

23. Mil Mi-17

Mil Mi-17 Designed by Mil Moscow Helicopter Plant and manufactured by Kazan Helicopter Plant. It was built incorporating a full-spectrum analysis of Russian helicopters' operation in combat situations and conflict zones. It has universality and high flight capabilities that make it among the world's most popular Russian-made helicopters. The Mi-17 used by indian army in kargil war against pakistani army.

24. Boeing AH-64 Apache

The AH-64 Apache most advanced multi-role combat helicopter is Designed and manufactured by Hughes Helicopters (1975¨C1984), McDonnell Douglas (1984¨C1997) Boeing Defense, Space & Security (1997¨Cpresent) in united state with a growing number of international defense forces. IAF had signed a contract with US Government and M/s Boeing Ltd in Sep 2015 for 22 Apache helicopters. The first batch of these helicopters is scheduled to be shipped to India by Jul this year. The helicopter Designed to suit IAF¡¯s future requirements and would have significant capability in mountainous terrain. The helicopter has the capability to carry out precision attacks at standoff ranges and operate in hostile airspace with threats from ground.

25. Mil Mi-26

The Mil Mi-26 is a twin-engine second largest and powerful helicopter in the world designed and manufactured by Mil Moscow Helicopter Plant, Russia, for both military and civilian roles. The Mi-26 was procured to meet the Heavy Lift requirements of the IAF.

26. HAL Dhruv

HAL Dhruv is a twin engine, multi-role, multi-mission advanced light helicopter designed and manufactured by India's Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. The basic Helicopter is produced in skid version and wheeled version. Dhruv is ¡°type ¨CCertified¡± for Military operations by the Centre for Military Airworthiness Certification (CEMILAC) and civil operations by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

27. HAL Chetak

HAL Chetak designed and manufactured by French aircraft company Sud-Aviation. A single-engine, light utility helicopter manufactured in India under license by HAL. It has been used for training, transport, CASEVAC (casualty evacuation), communications and liaison roles. The helicopter can carry 6 passengers or 500 kg load. It has a max speed of 220 km/hr.

28. HAL Cheetah

HAL Cheetah designed and manufactured by A¨¦rospatiale, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Helibras. It has capacity to carries 3 passengers or 100 kg external sling loads. It has a max cruise speed of 121 km/hr and can climb to 1 km in 4 minutes. The Cheetah helicopter fleet has been the backbone in SAR, Casualty Evacuation and RTR (Route Transport Role) role in the IAF.
