Commuting Made Easier For Mumbai, Travelator & Cable Car To Connect Metro To Railway Stations
For Mumbaikars, travelling from the Metro station to the nearest railway station, might prove to be a headache. But a new plan to link travelator or cable car between the two points might alleviate this problem.

Work on Metro 2B (Dahisar-D N Nagar via New Link Road) and Metro VII (Dahisar-Andheri via WEH), which run parallel to Western Railway's suburban corridor, is under way.
"We have appointed a consultant to recommend ways to ensure faster arrival and departure from Metro stations to railway stations. Some options under consideration are a travelator or cable car," additional metropolitan commissioner Pravin Darade told TOI.
If the recommendations get implemented, commuters will be able to interchange from both modes of transport in less than five minutes.

According to TOI, roads from Metro stations to railway stations are narrow. Movement of hawkers and crowds steadily trickling down from the stations makes vehicle movement extremely slow and confusing.
"Why should I get down from one transportation system and take road transport to take another mode of transport? It is better if a faster mode of interchange facility is provided. This will be a huge boost for public transport."Ajay Parab, who works in Andheri told the daily.
If this plan gets implemented without any hindrance, it will prove to be a major boon for thousands of commuters.
