Complete List Of States, UTs That Have Announced Lockdown: Know What's Allowed, What's Not

In the wake of the deadly second wave of coronavirus and the like-never-before surge in daily cases, many states across India have announced a complete or partial lockdown. Below is the list of states and the extent of lockdown imposed:

Delhi

Amidst the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the national capital, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal extended the lockdown till May 17.

• Curfew passes for marriages, travellers heading to airports, railway stations, and others. Not more than 20 people allowed.
• Gyms, pools, malls, auditoriums to remain closed till further orders. Metro service shall also be shut
• Cinema halls will be allowed to operate at 30% capacity.
• One weekly market allowed per day per zone.
• No dine-in will be allowed at restaurants, only take-aways allowed.

Maharashtra

The lockdown-like curbs in place in Maharashtra have been extended till May 15.

• Medical services will continue uninterrupted during this period but;
• Petrol and diesel will be available only to those involved in essential services.
• Grocery stores, vegetable shops, fruit shops, bakery, dairy, sweet shops, mill, meat and fish shops, pet food shops, gas agencies will remain closed.
• Milk collection centre and milk delivery will operate from 7 am to 11 am and 6 pm to 8 pm.
• Hotel and restaurants can home delivery food between 8 am and 8 pm.

Tamil Nadu

A day after Tamil Nadu recorded its biggest spike of coronavirus cases, the state government announced a two-week lockdown from May 10-24 on Saturday.

• All shops and commercial establishments including malls and big format stores selling anything other than groceries, vegetables, meat and foods products to remain shut during this period.
• School colleges and other educational institutions, places of worship, parks, recreation clubs, zoological parks and sport academies to remain shut.
• Parcel services such as Swiggy and Zomato can pick up orders between 6-10 a.m. during the day, for three hours after noon and between 6-9 p.m. through the day.
• Restaurants and eateries and tea shops to be completely shut for visitors.
• Petrol, diesel and other fuel pumps to remain open through the lockdown.
• All government offices other than important ones such as those inside the Secretariat to remain closed; private IT, ITeS offices to remain shut.
• Hotels and lodges to stop accepting patrons for reasons besides medical, other important causes.

BCCL

Karnataka

Karnataka has announced a two-week lockdown from 6 am on May 10 to 6 am on May 24.

• Movement of essential goods and services are allowed, and shops selling groceries can remain open from 6 am to 6 pm.
• Road repair work and cargo vehicles would be allowed.
• Shops and other commercial units like hotels, pubs, bars and industries that are not directly related to providing essential services will have to pull down their shutters.

• Flights and trains already scheduled will operate during the lockdown.
• Metro rail won't run; cabs not hired for emergency aren't allowed on the roads.
• Schools and colleges will remain shut, though online learning can continue.

West Bengal

The West Bengal government has imposed more curbs to stem the spread of coronavirus.

• All shopping malls, salons, restaurants, bars, sports complexes, gyms, spas and swimming pools would continue to remain closed.
• The number of invitees at weddings has been restricted to 50.
• Suspension of local train services, metro rail and state transport services will be curtailed by 50 per cent.
• Banks will be operational from 10 am to 2 pm.
• Government offices will operate with 50 per cent workforce.

Odisha

The state government announced to impose a 14-day complete lockdown in Odisha from May 5. The total lockdown in Odisha will be in place till May 19 and the lockdown will remain in place in all 30 districts.

Bihar

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday (May 4) announced that he has decided to impose lockdown in the state till May 15 after consultations with cabinet minister and other senior officials.

Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh government has decided to extend the partial 'corona curfew' till 7 AM on May 10, said ACS Information Navneet Sehgal. Earlier, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath-led government in Uttar Pradesh had decided to extend the COVID-19 curfew till May 6, 7 AM.

Punjab

Like several other states reeling from the COVID surge, Punjab has imposed extensive curbs, in addition to measures like a weekend lockdown and night curfew till May 15. Amarinder Singh said if any shops are opened in violation of the restrictions, the owners will be prosecuted.

Jharkhand

The Jharkhand government on Wednesday (May 5) extended the lockdown-like restrictions till May 13. The restrictions, first imposed on April 22 as "Health Safety Week", were scheduled to end on Thursday (May 6).

Madhya Pradesh

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday said that a strict 'Janata Curfew' will be imposed across the state till May 15. He also said that now the Corona curfew will have to be strictly followed. The situation will deteriorate if the virus is not stopped from spreading in rural areas. It may be noted that due to the weekend lockdown already in place, the lockdown will remain till May 17 at 6 am.

Himachal Pradesh

The Himachal Pradesh government has imposed a 10-day curfew across the state. The curfew will remain in place from 6 am of May 7 to 6 am of May 17. "There shall be a 'corona curfew' from 6 am of 7th May 2021 to 6 am of 17th May 2021. The curfew is primarily aimed at containing the spread of Covid-19 disease," the state government said in a release on Wednesday.

Rajasthan

In view of the rapid increase in coronavirus cases in Rajasthan, the state government has declared a complete lockdown in the state. The lockdown will begin on May 10 from 5:00 am and will remain in place till May 24 at 5:00 am.

Kerala

Amid the spike in COVID-19 cases in Kerala, the Pinarayi Vijayan government has imposed a strict lockdown from May 8 to May 16 to break the chain of transmission. However, on Friday (May 7), the Kerala Chief Minister said the COVID protocols will be enforced strictly with a modification in guidelines for the financial sector like banks. Issuing a fresh order, CM Vijayan said the functioning of banks should be arranged on alternative three days in a week.

Goa

The Goa government announced that it would impose a 15-day 'total curfew' in the state from May 9 to contain the spread of the virus, new agency ANI reported. The curfew will remain in force till May 23.

BCCL

States under night curfew

Many states including Nagaland, Tripura, Himachal Pradesh and Assam have announced a night curfew in order to control the spread of coronavirus transmission. The Bihar government has also imposed a curfew from 6 PM to 6 AM along with new COVID-19 guidelines.
