India added more than 2.5 lakh new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours on Friday taking the total so far 2.62 million. In the past 24 hours 4194 deaths were also recorded in India taking the toll to 2,95,560.
Delhi's COVID-19 Positivity Rate Drops To 4.76%, Lowest In 45 Days
The Covid-19 test positivity rate in the national capital on Friday dropped below 5% for the first time in 45 days, as the number of new infections continued to wind down.
Delhi recorded 3,009 fresh COVID-19 cases and 252 deaths related to the disease in the past 24 hours.
Recoveries Outnumber New COIVD-19 Cases In Karnataka
With 52,581 patients discharged in a day, recoveries outnumbered 32,218 new Covid cases in Karnataka, while 353 succumbed to the infection across the state, said the state health bulletin on Friday.
"Recoveries shot up to 18,29,276 till date, with 52,581 discharged in the day, while 32,218 new cases on Thursday rose the state's Covid tally to 23,67,742, including 5,14,238 active cases," said the bulletin.
Kerala Lockdown Extended Till May 30, Relaxes Triple Lockdown In 3 Districts
The lockdown in Kerala has been extended till May 30 while the triple lockdown will continue in Malappuram district to tackle the second wave of Covid-19, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday.
While the triple lockdown in Ernakulam, Thrissur and Thiruvananthapuram will be lifted on May 22 morning, it will continue to remain in effect in Malappuram.
Tamil Nadu Reports 36,184 New COVID Cases, 467 Deaths
Tamil Nadu on Friday reported 36,184 new coronavirus infections, with the State capital's daily COVID-19 count registering a slight decline to 5,913 as against 6,073 the day before.
The number of deaths stood at 467, taking the total number of fatalities to 19,598.
Early Diagnosis Of Mucormycosis Critical, Use Steroid Only After Consulting Doctors
Amid the rising cases of Mucormycosis, also known as black fungus, across the country, Medical Director at Delhi's LNJP Hospital, Dr Suresh Kumar said that early diagnosis of Mucormycosis is critical and people should not take steroid without consulting doctors.
Dr Suresh told ANI that the black fungus can be detected in people whose immunity is very weak or is taking steroids in large quantities.
COVID-19 Vaccination Centres In Pune To Remain Shut Due To Shortage
Pune Mayor Murlidhar Mohol on Friday informed that vaccination centers in Pune Municipal Corporation will remain shut on May 22 due to shortage of vaccine stock.
Mohol took to Twitter saying, "Vaccination will not be done on May 22 at all vaccination centers in Pune Municipal corporation area due to shortage of vaccine stock,".
