Cow Shockingly Eats 4-Foot Python In Ranchi; Owner, Vet Completely Surprised
Veterinarians have assessed the cow and confirmed that the snake in question is a non-venomous python. The cow is currently under observation and has not exhibited any health issues.
In the heart of Ranchi, a cow owner was met with an unexpected sight as he entered his shed: his prized bovine locked in a tense standoff, chewing on a formidable 4-foot python.
Recalling the incident, Sanjay Singh, a resident of Daltonganj, recounted to the Times of India, "The snake somehow slithered into the cow shed. When I went into the shed to feed the cow, I saw a portion of the snake's body hanging out from the mouth of the cow. I immediately pulled the snake residue out from the cow's mouth."
Snake identified: non-venomous python, vet confirms
Singh promptly sought assistance from veterinarians, who admitted they had never encountered such an incident before.
Veterinarian Abhay Kumar examined the cow and confirmed the snake as a non-venomous python. He reassured that the cow was under observation but showed no signs of health problems.
"Bovines have a disease called pica. Where there is an onset of pica, cows behave abnormally. they lick urine and eat dung and soil. It is because of a mineral deficiency," explained veterinarian Pramod Kumar, who also served in the Palamu Tiger Reserve in Ranchi, as reported by the Times of India, before adding "I have not come across such a case so far."
When a deer dined on snake
In a related account, footage of a cow devouring a python in Australia gained viral attention in 2020, and last year, a video surfaced of a deer consuming a snake.
The viral video captured a deer feasting on a snake, shared by the Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Susanta Nanda.
In the footage, a deer is spotted standing alongside a forest road, leisurely munching on a snake.

Deer are herbivores and are not naturally built for catching animals or consuming meat. Yet, when food is scarce and they lack proteins, calcium and phosphorus, they happen to eat other animals

In the background, the man behind the camera remarks, "Is he eating a snake?" Despite being herbivores known for primarily consuming plant matter, the deer seems to be relishing an unusual meal. The rare sight was captured by a passerby in a passing car.
