On November 18 last year, the city had recorded 131 COVID-19 deaths, which was the highest single-day fatality count in Delhi till April 15 since the start of the pandemic.
Delhi is currently the worst-hit city in India and has more cases than Pune and Bengaluru, which are the second and third most hit, combined.

Worrying positivity rate
What is concerning for Delhi is the positivity rate which has been hovering around the 20 per cent mark for the past couple of days.
COVID-19 cases in Delhi have been increasing at an explosive pace over the past two weeks.
Compared to Friday, just ten days ago on April 6, Delhi had 5,100 COVID-19 cases in 24 hours.
The death toll has also gone up drastically in the same time period - On April 6, the number of people who died of COIVD-19 was 17 and on Friday the number was 141.
In the past ten days, Delhi has added over 1,13,000 COVID-19 cases to its tally.

As of Saturday morning, the number of active COVID-19 cases in Delhi stood at 61,005.
Earlier this week the Arvind Kejriwal government had announced a weekend curfew in the national capital in addition to the existing night curfew.
On Saturday, Delhi, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal appealed to the citizens to follow the guidelines imposed by the state government to win the war against Covid-19.
"in view of the Covid-19, a curfew has been imposed in Delhi on Saturday and Sunday. Please follow it. We all have to defeat the pandemic together," Kejriwal tweeted.

Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has already made it clear that only essential services are exempted from the restrictions. Interstate transport will continue uninterrupted.
There will be no restrictions on movement for medical purposes and home delivery of food will be allowed.
All markets, malls, gyms, spas, auditoriums, and swimming pools will be closed. No dining-out in restaurants. Only home delivery food services will be allowed during the weekend lockdown.
