Delhi Imposes Night Curfew With Immediate Effect Till April 30. Here Are The Details
Night curfew has been imposed in Delhi from 10pm to 5am with immediate effect till 30th April in the wake of COVID-19 situation the Delhi Government said today. The national capital is witnessing a continued increase in the number of new COVD-19 cases since the past three weeks a proposal to impose a night curfew was under discussion by the Delhi government. This is the fourth consecutive day that Delhi reported more than 3500 new cases.

On March 2, Kejriwal had said that the national capital is witnessing an exponential increase in new cases, however the seriousness of the infection rate this time is low in comparison to the previous waves and hence there is no need of imposing any lockdown.
"We will be reviewing the situation. In future, if the need for a lockdown arises, I will consult before taking any such decision," the Chief Minister had said.
The national capital on Monday reported 3,548 new Covid-19 cases, taking its overall tally to 6,79,962, while its test positivity rate stood at 5.54 per cent, according to the health bulletin released by the Delhi government.
This is the fourth consecutive day that Delhi reported more than 3,500 new cases.
On Sunday, the national capital had reported 4,033 new cases, the highest single-day tally in 2021.
However, the benefits of night curfew being implemented remains contentious since most busy markets such as Sarojini Nagar, Lajpat Nagar are open during the day, and are a hotbed of infections.
Daily COVID cases cross 1 lakh mark
India reported 96,982 new coronavirus infections overnight, taking the overall tally of cases to 12.7 million, data from the health ministry showed on Tuesday.
The country reported 446 deaths, taking the total to 165,547, data showed.
India's caseload is the third-highest globally behind the United States and Brazil.
On Sunday, India¡¯s daily Covid count scaled a new peak with more than 1 lakh cases being reported for the first time ever.
Over 57,000 positive cases were reported from Maharashtra alone, a new record for the state that has now imposed a weekend lockdown.
