The landlady told Sachin that her daughter, planning to enroll in the same college as him, needed accommodation. Without much preamble, the landlady stated that her daughter would be residing with them in their flat.
Finding a suitable living arrangement as a tenant can often come with its fair share of challenges and unexpected requests. However, when Sachin, a final-year MBBS student, received a message from his landlady asking if her daughter could live with him while she prepared for the NEET exam, it caught him completely off guard.
Tenant takes to Twitter for advice
The landlady told Sachin that her daughter, planning to enroll in the same college as him, needed accommodation. Without much preamble, the landlady stated that her daughter would be residing with them in their flat.
In dilemma, Sachin, who resides in a 3 BHK apartment with two roommates in Delhi NCR, took to Twitter for advice.
"My flat owner messaged me that her daughter is appearing for NEET exam this year. She is not that good in studies and her physics is also very weak so she will take admission in our college(Private). She will live with me. What should I do? Should I ask her to decrease my rent?" Sachin posted on X.

In another tweet, he mentioned that his landlady wants her daughter to have a separate room in the same flat. "She trusts me a lot. I wouldn't be lying if I said she trusts me more than her son," he added.
I live in 3 bhk. My flat owner wants her daughter to live in a separate room not in my room. She trusts me a lot. I wouldn't be lying if I say she trusts me more than her son.

Emphasising on the affordability of his living arrangement, he pointed out that he and his two roommates share a fully furnished 3 BHK flat in the National Capital Region (NCR). "We pay a 19k + Electricity fee which means about 7k per person per month. It¡¯s cheaper than College Hostel." Soon, his post went viral, sparking a flurry of responses speculating on potential future scenarios.

¡°If you are a male and she is a female, it makes matters worse. The whole thing is fishy. Just don¡¯t budge. Leave the place the minute she takes admission. This is a request from someone who is your parents¡¯ age¡± cautioned one user.
Another echoed concerns about the adjustment required in habits and lifestyle, highlighting the vulnerability to false accusations and legal entanglements. ¡°You¡¯re not responsible for her, if you¡¯re not family¡± they emphasised.
Several others responded by showering a lot of advice ¨C regarding asking for a decreased rent and if at all he should let the girl stay with them because things could get dicey. Here¡¯s a look at some of the responses:
Understandably, his query was met with a lot of disbelief and a majority of people said that it was a bad idea to entertain the landlady's request.
