Specially-Abled Man Says No To Mask While Going Out In Kolkata, Father Strangles Him To Death
A 78-year-old man allegedly murdered his specially abled son in North Kolkatas Shovabazar over his apparent refusal to wear face mask amidcoronavirus lockdown. The accused identified as Banshidhar Mallick turned himself in to the police after murdering his son Sirshendu.
In a tragic incident, an elderly 78-year-old man allegedly murdered his specially abled son in North Kolkata¡¯s Shovabazar over his apparent refusal to wear face mask amid coronavirus lockdown.
The incident took place within the territorial jurisdiction of the Shyampukur Police Station. The accused identified as Banshidhar Mallick, turned himself in to the police after murdering his son, identified as Sirshendu.
According to the report in The Indian Express, the elderly man claimed that he committed the crime at around 5:30 pm after his son refused to wear a mask while stepping out of the house.
The accused claimed that his son had been going outside every evening without wearing a face mask, regardless of being told repeatedly to put it on as per the coronavirus lockdown norms.
The verbal spat between the father and son soon turned serious on Saturday and the old man claimed that he lost his temper and throttled his son to death.
A case of murder under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered against the accused.
Upon investigation, the police learnt that the relationship between the father-son duo was not cordial and they often fought over various issues. The accused is a retired employee of a private company while his physically challenged now-deceased son was unemployed.
