Another overcast, breezy day in the city brought relief from the sweltering heat. The maximum temperature on Monday was 33 degrees Celsius ¡ª six notches below normal, and the minimum was 28 degrees Celsius.

The Meteorological (Met) office said gusty winds and cloudy sky brought the mercury down and kept the humidity levels between 45% and 65%. Moreover, traces of rainfall at isolated areas were an added bonus. On Thursday, however, the temperature might touch 40 degrees Celsius again, but the city is unlikely to witness heatwave conditions in the next seven days.

¡°A western disturbance over Arabian Sea is causing these conditions. On Tuesday and Wednesday thunderstorm with light rain or lightning and dusty winds up to 30-40km per hour are expected,¡± a Met official said, adding that on Tuesday, the maximum temperature will be 31 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, with an air quality index (AQI) at 123, the air quality in the city was in the ¡®moderate¡¯ range. SAFAR, an air forecasting agency under the ministry of earth sciences, said AQI is expected to improve slightly but remain in the moderate range for the next two days.
