Reacting to the incident, Shrey Pratap Singh, the son of the slain cop said that such elements are better behind bars than be allowed to roam free.
¡°I urge Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath that these criminals who were in jail for six months should be behind bars in the interest of society. Those who can commit a crime once can do it again. I believe that such people out of jail are a danger not just for me but also for others,¡± Singh said.

Singh's wife also questioned how the accused got freedom in just six months. She said that she now feared for her family¡¯s safety. ¡°I fear that I may be killed now or they might kill my children. The court should reject their bail as soon as possible. I will lodge a complaint with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. My husband died while serving his motherland, but now his killers are being garlanded on receiving bail. More strict action should have been taken against them,¡± she told News 18.

During the clashes, a local youth was, killed which angered the locals further who took it out on inspector Singh, who was brutally attacked by a mob of around 400 people.
According to the charge sheet filed by the police, Agarwal who was granted bail and Yogesh Raj who is still in jail had a key role in the protests and the violence that broke out.
Meanwhile, the BJP has distanced itself from the welcome rolled out to the accused.
Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Maurya told reporters that his party or government had nothing to do with the garlanding episode. ¡°If supporters and relatives of someone who has been released from the jail welcome them, the government or the BJP have nothing to do with it. The opposition need not exaggerate such things,¡± Maurya said.
