Fearing COVID, Housing Society In Goa Asks Doctors, Nurses Living There To Vacate Immediately
Kanchanganga Co Op HSG Society LTD located in Margao, Goa has issued a notice to their resident doctors, nurses asking them to vacate their own homes in the society.
Doctors, nurses are frontline workers who have been tirelessly helping us survive this COVID catastrophe. They have been staying away from their families to ensure all others are safe. All we can do is thank these frontline healthcare workers for their noble deed but a Goa's housing society's notice is doing rounds in social media for the wrong reasons as they're asking their doctors, nurses to vacate until pandemic gets over.

Kanchanganga Co Op HSG Society LTD located in Margao, Goa has issued a notice to their resident doctors, nurses asking them to vacate their own homes in the society.
"This is to bring to your notice that nurses/doctors are staying in our society in Block-C, of S-3 & S-4 respectively which is itself against the rule of the bye-laws of the society. Also, you have not taken any permission or inform the society for the same. Further, these nurses and doctors are treating/attending the COVID patient in your hospital and they are directly reside at above mentioned flats", the notice said.

"This is causing the spreading the virus in our society and taking cognisance object raised by the members of the society. This is the dangerous situation where our society may be contaminated by the coronavirus which may be transmitted by your employees. Therefore, we request you to stop them from staying in our society during the PANDEMIC COVID-19", the letter added.
As soon as the letter went viral, social media expressed its anguish over the circulating notice.

That Chairman must be charged with discrimination.This middle class mentality ppl don't understand if they suffer these are the same doctors and nurses who are going to treat them. Health Dept & Collector must take strict action.

126 doctors died due to COVID this year so far
Doctors and nurses have been at the forefront since the pandemic began. According to Indian Medical Association (IMA), a total of 126 doctors died of Covid-19 this year. The toll last year was 736.

"Health department of Government of India and various states should maintain an official data of Health Care Workers affected and died due to Covid with their vaccination status. Unfortunately, the government is not doing it hence IMA is trying to collect this data," Dr Ravi Wankhedkar said.
Sadly there seems to be not much verified data on the other frontline healthcare workers' casualty data.
In February, the IMA had refuted government's data that stated that 162 doctors died due to Covid-19 in the country, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) in February said that it is ¡°shocked" and pegged the figure at 734.
