Fodder Scam: After Three Days Of Courtroom Drama, Lalu Finally Sentenced To Jail For 3.5 Years
Lalu Prasad Yadav along with five others sentenced to 35 years imprisonment in the fodder scam case. The case pertains to fraudulent withdrawal of the money from the Deoghar treasury between 1991 and 1994.
A CBI court in Ranchi has sentenced former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav along with five others to 3.5 years imprisonment in the fodder scam case.
Additionally there is a fine of Rs 5 lakhs each on all the accused.
The CBI judge who convicted the former Bihar strongman on last Saturday had differed the pronouncement of the sentence three times.

The case pertains to fraudulent withdrawal of the money from the Deoghar treasury between 1991 and 1994.
There are a total of six cases related to the scam, which are being probed by authorities. Saturday¡¯s hearing on the quantum of sentence pertains to the fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 89.27 lakh from Deoghar Treasury.
The court on December 23 convicted Prasad and 15 others in this fodder scam case and acquitted six others including another former Bihar chief minister Jagannath Mishra.
