Gujarat Has Announced ¡®Orange Alert¡¯ For Next 2 Days Due To Hot Weather, Here's What It Means
Sweltering heat has led the Gujarat health department to issue an ¡®Orange Alert¡¯ for two days as the temperature is likely to hit the 44 degree mark.
As temperatures soar, children and elderly are being advised to stay indoors. Temperature in the national capital on Sunday was around 42 degree celsius while in Gujarat was 41 degree celsius.
Sweltering heat has led the Gujarat health department to issue an ¡®Orange Alert¡¯ for two days as the temperature is likely to hit the 44 degree mark. Deputy Health Officer of Surat Municipal Corporation Dr Mahendra Patel informed ANI, "An Orange Alert has been announced for two-days due to heat wave. All our bus stands have ORS packets, municipal corporation has made arrangements for water at multiple points."

Meteorological Centre (MC) Ahmedabad even issued a warning on Saturday regarding soaring temperatures in various regions of Gujarat for the next two days.
Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Surat were some of the districts which were warned against prevailing heat wave conditions.
What Is An Orange Alert?
There are different colors that are used to issue weather warnings. Weather alerts are applied in cases of adverse weather conditions including extreme temperatures, heavy snow and ice and flooding.

The category of orange weather warning is issued for weather conditions that have the capability of impacting people in the affected area. It comes below red alert and mainly warns people to be prepared for adversity.
Other alerts include yellow alert that makes people aware that their location is at risk though, it does not pose an immediate threat to the general population.
Red alert is the highest warning that is issued and implies that immediate action needs to be taken. This could mean shifting families to a safe zone, advising them to remain indoors among others.
According to a weather website El Dorado all 15 of the world¡¯s warmest cities on Friday at 7:30 pm were from India and mainly central India. Madhya Pradesh¡¯s Khargone was reported the hottest city in the world with temperatures rising as high as 46.4 degree Celsius.
